How to Access iXpand Drive from Apple Files App on iOS 13

The iXpand drive supports Files App on iOS 13. However, it requires the iXpand Drive App to be installed on the iOS device. The Files App uses the iXpand Drive App as a file browser in order to view or save files.

Current iXpand drives are not MSC (Mass Storage Class) devices and use iAP2 (iOS Accessory Protocol 2) to communicate with iOS applications and that's the reason why the iXpand Drive App needs to be installed in order to view or save files using the Files App.


To use the iXpand drive with the Files App please refer to the following steps.

1. Install the iXpand Drive App from the App Store

2. Open Files App and click on iXpand Drive

3. Click on a folder to view the files

4. Tap on a file to open it

5. To save files to the iPhone or other apps or services, open a file and tap on the Share icon

6. Choose Save to Files

7. Select the device or service and click Save
